About the Charity
The Vegetarian Society is THE voice of vegetarianism - working to enable more people to adopt a vegetarian lifestyle for greater compassion to animals, better health, and a more sustainable environment. This is the oldest vegetarian organisation in the world, established back in 1847.
With projects such as the UK Food Plan, campaigns to promote better provision in restaurants, schools and hospitals, a Vegetarian Cookery School, and the well-known Vegetarian Society Approved trademark, this national Manchester-based charity has a major impact.
Based in an old manor house in beautiful grounds, with a highly flexible working culture and a much-loved brand, this charity has a lot to offer for the right candidate.
About the role of Fundraising Officer
Are you a fundraiser with a wide range of fundraising experience?
Do you consider yourself creative and relish in the challenges fundraising can bring?
As Fundraising Officer, you will lead the fundraising for the UK Food Plan (the charity’s new and ambitious plan to transform vegetarian options in targeted contexts), using your ability to build great relationships with individuals and supporters to develop and deliver income.
You will use your fundraising skills, developed in either major donor development, corporate or community fundraising, sponsorship, grants, events, or legacy promotion, to influence, inspire and support people to embrace and maintain a vegetarian lifestyle.
With a can-do attitude and proactive approach, you will plan and implement integrated funding campaigns that will deliver on high value income streams, whilst identifying new opportunities to secure support for the UK Food Plan.
The UK Food Plan is a new exciting project that aims to promote more vegetarian food options across a wide range of targeted contexts. You will play a vital part in contributing towards the income by shaping and leading the project. This is a great opportunity for an individual to gain strong experience in influencing a small campaign at an exciting non-for-profit organisation.
Above all, you will embrace the vegetarian lifestyle and values of the Vegetarian Society and have a real passion for helping others to do the same.
Whilst this opportunity is initially offered on a 1-year fixed term contract, the charity has ambitions to make this permanent for candidates that make great progress in the role. Part-time (job shares) would be considered for the right candidate(s).
