Closing Date: 28th May 2019
Are you a proactive and creative person seeking an opportunity to utilise your marketing and communications expertise to promote vital services in the not-for-profit sector?
Doctor Kershaw’s Hospice was opened in 1989 thanks to a legacy from Dr John Kershaw, a local GP. The hospice has since expanded and been redeveloped several times to offer high quality patient accommodation and professional facilities for all staff.
The hospice provides specialist palliative care for adults with non-curable, life-limiting illnesses in a peaceful and homely environment. Doctor Kershaw’s is an independent hospice and relies heavily on fundraising activities, donations, legacies, retail income and its charity lottery. A much-loved institution in Oldham, Doctor Kershaw’s serves a population of over 220,000 people and has touched the lives of so many people in the town and surrounding areas.
About the role
To promote the vital services offered, Doctor Kershaw’s Hospice is looking for a highly creative Marketing and Communications Officer to raise its profile via written and digital content media. You will use social media, press releases and a range of other media to publicise good news stories, fundraising initiatives and positive case studies throughout the year to help boost awareness and income generation opportunities.
You will work closely with colleagues in response to media queries, with external media partners and suppliers and manage the production of marketing materials. You will be a self-starter with strong organisational, content creation, creative writing, social media and collaboration skills to successfully promote this much-loved Oldham-based charity.
This is a part-time opportunity and can be offered at 22-28 hours (negotiable). Whilst third sector experience will be beneficial, this opportunity is also open to high-potential graduates and those looking to transfer skills from the private sector to a non-profit organisation.
